I am very lucky to say I have always had a good skin. I believe it is probably due to my family genetics, as none of us never suffered from acne, or bad skin conditions. I have always felt privilege and very grateful that I can feel confident with the way my skin looks and the fact I can go out easily without make up.
Of course, I do still love a little bit of make up! Most days, I wear some mascara and highlighters, and I have a good collection of lipsticks to give my face a touch of colour when I need it. Here are for you some of the things I do to keep my skin happy! (These tips work for me, and are pretty basics. It might not work for everyone, depending on the type of skin you have – I have mixed skin with some dry areas).
Here are the 5 things I always do.
1* Drink plenty of water
Since very little, I have been taught to drink a lot of water. I actually used not to do so, and had bladder issues for a while. So my mum since, always made sure I drunk plenty! I think it is such a silly and small things, but I meet so much people that drink NO WATER! If you spend the day with me, you’ll see me gulp gallons of water whilst eating, or when I am out, drinking from my refillable bottle I carry everywhere. I later discovered that drinking water was good for many things, but also apparently for your skin’s health. So here you go, minimum 1 litre a day peeps. ( Tip, use a refillable bottle that has measurements; so you can track how much you have drunk in the day).
2* Remove my make up with Coconut oil
I have been removing my make up with coconut oil for many years! I use any type of coconut oil and put it on my face with my clean fingers, use a damped cotton pad – or better – a reusable pas to take everything off. Then, I wash it off with some warm water. I also like to use from time to time the cleansing milk from Dr Hauschka (Which is also vegan) that leaves my face feels like baby skin!
I also now started to use a cleanser whilst I am showering. I am currently loving Bjork and Berries cleansing gel formula. It is super soft and very smooth to use. ( They also currently have an offer where you can get this one for free this week! Eeeeek! )
3* Always moisturise
Whichever day it is, I always always put some moisturiser on my face. I have tried a few different ones, my number one being the La Roche Posay (That you can now find a Boots in the UK which is amazing! I used to buy a few every time I went home π ). I always choose the Tolerian formula and have had for a long time.
At the moment though, I got given some testers – from a hotel I stayed at – from AESOP and I am IN LOVE! I have been using the Camellia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream for about a month now, and I believe it was actually better than my usual cream for winter, because richer.
I am also loving the Elemis Mist I received from a PR bag – I attended their event to launch the Superfood brand, which was super fun! I have it in my bag all the time now, and just spray it over my face in between meetings π
4 * Steam
Another small things that I think really works, is going to steam rooms and saunas as often as possible. Why do you think Japanese and Nordic ladies have amazing skin?? The steam opens your pores and help remove the impurities. I also do it sometimes at home, a bowl of boiling water, a towel on my head, and here you go! Homemade face steamer at home π Try it, and let me know the results.
5* Nourish from the inside
Finally, this is something that I know I will react to, is the food I eat. When I was in NYC, I ate an insane amount of sugary things and I totally saw that my skin had more impurities. Trying to have a balanced diet is always key, even for your skin. My diet is full of fresh and nutritious food, including ALL food groups with no exception. I know there are plenty of articles out there that will give you the benefit of each and every ingredients. I choose to eat everything and a lot of veggies and fruits for natural vitamins and elements. I also take B12 vitamins to help because I don’t eat much meat or fish and also do some vitamins cure twice a year.
And this is me, from a french lady to you <3
