Is is really 2021?
Yes, it is January 2021… can you believe it? Considering 2020 has essentially been a long month, with moments of “freedom” in betweens, I am struggling to feel any different this new year so far! Let’s add to this that the UK has entered a third lockdown, which means that long month is now merging onto one long year …
But enough of the moaning, I am actually feeling good. I have learnt that accepting the situation is often better than resent it, and I am grateful for many things. I have learnt to take my time – since I am not longer spending half of my life socialising – and being acceptant to achieve “less” in a day.

My morning routine still keeps me sane in 2021
I am loving my slow mornings and have stopped to freak out if I am not yet dressed at 9am! I have worked out a routine for me which allows me to start the day and makes me feel productive. In a nutshell, this is how everyday starts:
- Luke wakes up – and wakes me up – but I stay in bed until he brings me my tea
- I put on the French radio France Info on
- Reply to all of the DMs, Comments I have on Instagram
- Reply to “urgent” emails
(Leave the bed)
- I do either Yoga or exercise on my mat, 20 to 30 min
- Shower time
- Get dressed into something that makes me feel good
- Make the bed and tidy the bedroom
By this point, I am READY for the day! I probably reach that point by 10am, with a feeling to have achieved something. It also leaves me plenty of time in the morning to do what I need to do. I know so many people talk about the importance of routines, and I do think it is true. Of course I am lucky I can have a routine because I work from home and for myself, so I don’t have a 9am meeting to get to. Tough, looking back at my “previous life” as a software consultant, I did always put my radio on, did 5 minutes of exercises everyday still. So I do think it is still to have a routine with a 9 to 5 job.

No goals for 2021
Last year I set myself a few “goals” and it turned out it just wasn’t going to hapenned. One of my biggest goal was to get myself a book deal, to finally be able to have my own product, and something tangible to share and talk about my passion. Turns out, getting a book deal in 2020 was even harder than in 2019! Most weeks, receive a DM of someone asking ” when are you going to have your own book?” But instead of being disappointed and mad about it, I just told myself that it is just not the right time. I decided to put my energy in other projects and it meant my year was a great year.
I financed and renovated my kitchen, got engaged to my English man, bought a property, learnt how to sew my own clothes and continued to work with some amazing brands! This is what I want to remember this year to be, and nothing else.
Sewing in 2021
If you have been following me on Instagram, you have probably seen that I have started to make my own clothes. It has been such a learning and provided me with so much joy! I entered a totally new community of people. Turns out I have apparently influenced quite a few people to do the same. The dream would be to be able to share more of my sewing on the blog, and get better at writing tutorials. I promise I’ll try.
Here are a few photos of some of my homemade dresses 🙂 I am trying to get into the routine of starting a project every couple of weeks to keep the momentum! On the plus side as well, I haven’t bought any clothes the entire year!!!
Excited to see what 2021 has to bring!
Bisous xx
